MANITOULIN—The Manitoulin Health Centre (MHC) has received a generous donation towards the centre’s telemetry campaign.
“Arthur Berry, on behalf of himself and his late wife Joyce, has provided MHC’s fundraising effort with a significant gift of $50,000,” said MHC CEO Derek Graham.
The telemetry equipment is used for cardiac patient monitoring. The mobile systems are worn by patients and relay the patient’s cardiac information back to the nurses monitoring station at the hospital.
Mr. Berry has historical ties to the Island and used to own property at Ten Mile Point. The Berrys loved to fish while visiting the Island, and Manitoulin has stayed close in their thoughts through the years.
Originally from Liverpool, England, the couple emigrated to Canada in the 1950s and lived in Scarborough, followed by Whitchurch-Stouville. Mr. Berry, at age 91, now lives in Aurora.
“Manitoulin Health Centre gratefully acknowledges this wonderful gift,” added Mr. Graham.
This latest donation brings the Telemetry Campaign fundraising total up to $320,000 of its $350,000 goal.
