MANITOULIN—On October 19, the Island Quilters Guild thoroughly enjoyed having Kelly Kline give a lecture and trunk show. Ms. Kline is from Kansas, and is a well-known Handi Quilter Ambassador and Long Arm Quilter.
Ms. Kline uses vintage doilies, hankies and laces as her main focal points in quilts, table runners and wall hangings. She showed the guild many of her detailed works using these vintage linens. She finds inexpensive materials at antique shops, flea markets and ebay to use in her designs. Her work is very unique in that there is quite an assortment of fabrics, trims and quilting styles in each work of art.
Her lecture was informative and humorous as she shared her story of being a business owner with her husband as well as a mother and grandmother. She was very quick to tell us her first real passion is fishing. She said one of the many highlights while visiting Manitoulin was catching fish while she was here.
