Harassment complaint brings OPP to Tehkummah’s municipal office

TEHKUMMAH—A man entered the Tehkummah municipal office on Wednesday seeking to confront the clerk-treasurer over the provisions of the Municipal Act and the current vacancy on Tehkummah council.

According to witnesses, the man was expressing himself loudly and in an agitated manner and he was asked to leave. The man refused to leave and Clerk-Treasurer Karen Gerrard retreated to her office while the police were summoned.

Three police officers attended the scene, but the individual had left the building by the time the officers arrived. According to an OPP spokesperson, the individual has been contacted and cautioned to not attend the municipal offices again.
