Knox United Church 3rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament surpasses expectations

MANITOWANING—The Knox United Church 3rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament held at Rainbow Ridge on Tuesday, July 11 was a big success. A total of $13,000 was raised by the event, bringing the three-year total up to $32,500, half of which is shared with local charitable and non-profit community organizations and the other half goes to the Knox Building Fund.

Manitowaning Mill Home Hardware and Building Centre was the title sponsor again this year.

“The support received from the business community as well as the participants and volunteers was excellent,” said Al Mattison, tournament committee coordinator.

The following groups are being included in the distribution of the proceeds this year, which takes place at the church on Sunday, August 27 during the regular church service at 10 am.

Burns Wharf Theatre Players, Assiginack Curling Club, Assiginack Public Library, Island Animal Hospital, Manitoulin Family Resources, Manitoulin Navy League, Manitoulin Special Olympics, Manitowaning Agricultural Society, Manitowaning Girl Guides, Manitowaning Minor Hockey, St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Tehkummah Public Library and the Triangle Seniors’ Club.

The 4th annual charity golf tournament takes place next year on Tuesday, July 10, 2018. Congratulations to everyone who helped make the event a success.
