A hard view on the loss of the Cup and Saucer entrance

Islanders should not be held hostage again

To the Expositor:

When I saw the posts on Facebook regarding the Cup and Saucer I just thought it was the same issue as last year. But as more information came out it became more troubling. To close one of the largest attractions on the first long weekend of the summer at the last minute is just disgraceful. Now it is well within Mr. Eadie’s rights to close down access through his property, but to do it without notice is just again disgraceful. To top it off, it all seems to relate back to a lost tender with NEMI.

Now, if you rely on taxpayer dollars to operate your business I would think it would be in your best interest not to anger the majority of the residents on the Island. I am sure he has some supporters but at the end of the day he didn’t follow the rules of the tender. Don’t take that out on the rest of the businesses, families that rely on this tourist destination.

If you can’t operate that pit at a profit then the pit shouldn’t exist. I am sure all that timber will help pay the bills.

Which is it, timber/gravel/garbage left on trail? It is hard to keep up with the story Mr. Eadie is weaving. Alternative routes should be established so Islanders are not held hostage again and a long term strategy should be put in place for future generations to enjoy the beautiful views.
