M’CHIGEENG—Last Thursday, Manitoulin Secondary School (MSS) hosted the North Shore Secondary School Athletic Association (NSSSAA) tennis tournament where four schools visited the home of the Mustangs for the day.
“Our team carried themselves well and almost all of them helped contribute to team points enabling MSS the win the NSSSAA team banner,” said coach Chris Theijsmeijer. “Unfortunately, only first place finishers get to continue on to NOSSA (Northern Ontario Secondary School Asthletics) this Thursday in Sudbury, so Bryce Mastelko qualified in Boys’ Singles, Maddy Niven/Alayna Cranston qualified in Girls’ Singles, and Nathan Howard/Jackie Cooper qualified in Mixed Doubles.”
The Mustangs tennis team consists of Julia Desbiens-St. Amand, Rachel Sheppard, Nea Saunders, Jackie Cooper, Alayna Cranston, Maddy Niven, Faith Taylor, Avery Sheppard, Dream Saunders, Connor Bellmore, Connor Phillips, Nathan Howard, Bryce Mastelko, Eric Varey and Boston Thibault.
