Lions Club hosts successful open house

GORE BAY—The Gore Bay-Western Manitoulin Lions Club held a very successful open house event this past Saturday in the Gore Bay Community Hall.

“We had quite a few people come in and visit our club members and our booths during the event,” stated Larry Hunter, a member of the Lions Club.  He indicated the event was so successful, “we had one person who has already indicated they are going to become a new member of our club and there are other people that are considering joining the club as well.”

Lions members had tables set up to display photographs and information on things the Lions are involved in such as the CNIB Eye Van, which visits the community on an annual basis, and Dog Guides. There was information and pictures of what the Lions Club has done or causes it has helped support over the years. As well, Lion Kristy Carleton had brought a laptop to show visitors to show what the Lions Club International assists with and other activities the local Lions participate in.

There was also used books for sale at the open house, with proceeds from all sales going back to the Lions Club, to be used to benefit the community.

Coffee, tea, muffins and other fresh baked goods for visitors to enjoy on their visit were provided by the Lions at the open house.
