Gore Bay Flying Club purchases plane

GORE BAY—Members of the Gore Bay Flying Club (GBFC) welcomed their newly purchased airplane to the airport this past Friday.

“The airplane has arrived,” stated Wade Cook of the GBFC, this past Saturday. “We purchased the plane from Mike Geoffroy of Timmins, who is known to Lloyd Richards of the Canadian Owners Pilots Association, who had been at our most recent club meeting.”

About 12 members of the GBFC were on hand to take a look at the new airplane, a 1968 Piper Cherokee 140.

“Our club got a deal on the plane,” said Mr. Cook. “It is worth substantially more than we purchased it for. It was definitely too good a deal to pass up.”

“The plane is mechanically sound and the paint job on it looks very good,” said Mr. Cook. “It’s nice because when we started we weren’t sure that we were going to purchase a plane. But more than 10 members of the club fly and now there is talk that we may end up purchasing a second plane.”
