BIRCH ISLAND—Official results were not available as of press time Monday, but the unofficial results indicate that incumbent Chief Franklin Paibomsai (Shining Turtle) has been returned as chief of the Whitefish River First Nation.
Joining Chief Shining Turtle around the council table for the next two years will be returning incumbents Esther Osche, Cara McGregor, Gerald McGregor and Leona Nahwegahbow, and newly elected councillors Mark Shawanda and David Shawanda.
Full results and comment from the incoming chief are anticipated to be available for next week’s edition.
