At our February meeting the Auxiliary Representative reports on regular activities were given and upcoming fundraisers were discussed and some were planned.
All is going well with the regular activities including the Tuck Cart, HELPP Lottery, In Memoriam Fund and Coin Boxes. However, there is concern about sales of items in the Showcase. To boost sales, June McConnell has reduced prices on items in the Showcase. Purchases can be made Monday to Friday (11 am to 1 pm) from the volunteer at the Tuck\Lottery or at the front desk. Remember that all sales are for patient services in the hospital.
The only event report was for the Book Sale held on January 27 and 28. Sales were over $300 which is the best ever. Thanks to all who came and stocked up on books and jigsaw puzzles for their winter entertainment. Thanks also to Elaine and Wallace Moore, Doris and Don Schwar, Sharon Bentley and June McConnell for setting up and taking down the displays and June and Glorea for their work as cashiers.
Fundraisers for the spring and summer so far include the casserole dinner, a cash raffle, book sales and a special event to be held in Volunteer Week.
The casserole dinner is on Friday, March 10 at 6 pm in the United Church Hall. This is the most popular dining event in town. The ticket price has never changed—it’s still $10. Buy early as only 100 tickets are sold. You can donate a large casserole or a cake in a 9”x13”pan. Call Sue Lafreniere at 705-368-2336. Tickets will be available very soon from members or at the Tuck\Lottery on Monday to Friday from 11 am to 1 pm.
The cash raffle tickets will be on sale in the next couple of weeks. The draw will be at the NEMI Farmers’ Market on Saturday, September 2. The first prize is $1,000, second prize is $500 and there are three third prizes of $100. Tickets are $5 each.
Book sales will continue at the NEMI Farmers’ Market on Saturdays beginning May 20 and ending on October 7. There will probably be another sale in the Cafeteria at the MHC in late March or early April.
Currently, we are saving our money for new cardiac telemetry equipment. (Telemetry is an automated process which transmits data from a distance to receiving equipment for monitoring.)
Your support of the MHC Auxiliary in Little Current is really appreciated! Equipment purchases may go unseen but patients notice the services that touch them. It’s amazing how often we are thanked for Free TV, the Tuck Cart, Care Bags and the consumable products available at the HELPP Lottery\Tuck Cart. The cozy polar fleece blankets given at Christmas were mentioned to Auxiliary members.
