For the past few winters Tish Smith, my neighbour, has so kindly shoveled my driveway claiming she “loves to shovel!” I don’t ask her, she just does it! This senior lady can’t thank her enough, so I am delighted to be able to report her Acts of Kindness here. She gave her beau, Randy Burnett, a snowblower for Christmas, but she has been enjoying its benefits on my driveway as well as Randy.
I am so touched by their kindness.

Helping hands
I went grocery shopping one day with two of my three children. I was walking around the Dollar Store when two women told me how adorable my youngest was, she was saying ‘hi’ to everyone (she just turned two and it was her newest thing). Once I arrived at the cash register these two ladies approached me with a Dollar Store card for $10 for the kids and a chocolate rose for me! After I had my little moment of gratitude, wiping away tears and paid for my children’s items, I was walking over to Freshco when they approached me again and told me this went with the other card and to have a good day—$20! I thought this was wonderful. Twenty dollars is a big deal when you have three little mouths to feed. Little did I know it was not the end of the act of kindness.
When I was gathering up my items in Freshco and checking my cart to make sure I had the little things I went for, another lady walked up to me and handed me a card, told me to have a blessed day and quickly disappeared. I was speechless. I stood in disbelief for a moment on what was going on and suddenly ran around the corner to thank the lady again that I couldn’t accept this next card but she was gone! When I turned the card over it was for $100 to Freshco!
There are some amazing people on this earth that sure help the rest of humanity in such a horrible world we have these days. If I win I’d love to donate the cheque to the Manitoulin Food Bank.
