Happy New Year from the Manitoulin Health Centre Auxiliary. We had our first meeting of the new year on January 5, upstairs in the conference room of the hospital.
Congratulations to Madelyn Corbiere and Maxwell Chapman, recipients of our two bursaries given out at the MSS rewards night this past December. We wish you both all the best and success in your continued education. One is a student at Brock University and one is a student at Queens University, both very good schools.
We gave fleece blankets to seven patients for Christmas. We have already to go a lovely gift package for the New Year’s Baby and Mom. Just waiting for him or her to be born.
A big thank you goes to the Little Current Lions Club for presenting our auxiliary a cheque from their “Catch the Ace” game. Also thank you to everyone who donates to the in memoriam fund, puts coins in the boxes around town, buys from the tuck cart, show case and buys the HELPP lottery tickets. The support given to us (MHC Auxiliary) is very much appreciated.
Remember our hospital, Manitoulin Health Centre, is the best. We the auxiliary are there to help support the patients in anyway we can. Would you like to become a volunteer just call Leona at 705-368-1709 or Elaine at 705-368-3038. It’s a proven fact that volunteers have a lower stress level.
Have you had a chance to check the emergency department at the hospital since the renovations have started? The unit looks great, much more efficient. Don’t wait until you are sick check it out before hand. While you are there look over our showcase at admitting, we have blankets and such for newborns, soft critters and dolls for toddlers and children, books for the book worm, scarfs to keep you warm on these chilly days. Lots more—come check it out. We are open from 11 am to 1 pm, Monday to Friday.

We extend our condolences to Laila Kiviaho on the death of her beloved brother.
