STELLA EDNA MACDOUGALL

June 7, 1926 – November 14, 2016

Stella Edna MacDougall, a resident of Manitowaning, died suddenly at Manitoulin Health Centre, on Monday, November 14, 2016 at the age of 90. Born in Tehkummah to Bertha Agnes Jane (nee Sisson) and Herman Richard Bowerman. Beloved wife of Ronald MacDougall (predeceased August 2, 2010). Loved mother of  Barbara and husband Dag Furst of Vancouver, Sharon and husband Dennis Durie of Strathroy. Proud grandmother of Jennifer Furst (husband Dave Brown), Thomas Furst (wife Sarah Jane), Eric Durie, Heather Durie (husband Stephen Heidinga). Great-grandmother of Ryder and Stella Jane Furst. Predeceased by all her sisters, Susie Leeson, Hazel Brandow, Lila Simpson, Pearl Abrahall, Evelyn Whalen and predeceased by all her brothers, Stan, Harold, Nellis, Melvin, Clint and Burton. Survived by sister-in-law Betty Bowerman. Will always be remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Stella led an active life in her community and church. She supported all the events with her time, baking, knitting, and sewing. She was dedicated to her family, and always had a meal ready and cookies baked. Playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were extra special times for her. We will miss her greatly. Family and friends will gather at Knox United Church, Manitowaning. Visitation from 7 pm to 9 pm on Friday, December 2, 2016. Funeral Service at 4 pm on Saturday, December 3, 2016. Burial will be at a later date. Donations to Knox United Church or to Manitoulin Health Centre Auxiliary would be greatly appreciated. Island Funeral Home can only accept cheques for all charitable donations.
