Tehkummah Talk and Times

Sympathy to the family of Velma Sheppard. Her niece Dorothy Cronk attended her funeral service on Thursday afternoon, November 4. Also sympathy to the family of Brian Willoughby, who passed away after a short illness.

Rosie came and helped me with some outside work on the 7th. A phone call from sister Mollie and a friend, Helen Oswald, as well. Well here it is Wednesday evening already. A nicer day, but a chill in the air tonight.

I beat Mum two of three games of crib, after our cribbage tournament. We had seven and a half tables and as always a good time: high hand, Teresa, 21; first, Graham and Sheila, 941; second, Jim and Dorothy, 937; third, Glenda and Betty, 929; low, Freda and Doris, 847; door, Joan Chrysler, Betty Gammie, Bill Case. Lots of good snacks and treats, thank you to all the contributors.

Margaret and Brian McCarthy returned from their trip west, gone a while.

How are you doing, Grant Moggy?

Marg Case and her sister are off for a trip to Victoria, BC.

Helen O calls frequently; she’s better on the phone stuff than I.

I don’t think you should spike your hair with “gel,” for when I was burning my garbage, I could smell burning hair (so distinctive an odor). I’m a little shorter on one side, but then it’s not so “long” since I was bald!

Friday the Triangle Community Hall had a good crowd for the Armistice Day service. More folks than the last few years. Martin Garmiss organized the program, and we had a piper newly moved to the Island (Providence Bay), Dave Beaton. Welcome! Wreaths laid by Andy Bowerman, Jean McCauley, Beulah Russell, and Eric Russell. Refreshments served after the service by the Triangle Club.

Well, Friday I’ve been planting a few Canada “150” tulips (felt like they might have to plant me, I have no energy.) Tara and Skylar helped me on Saturday. After a nap, I went in and had a chicken burger at Carol’s and Earl’s, then came back. I beat Mum a couple of games, then I went home smelly when she skunked me Friday night, Cal gave me a good skunking. But he was annoyed, as I’d beat him three in a row (he usually quits after getting beat two.) He fed me supper first though. I took some compost type stuff to the road (camp entrance), threw some bulbs and seeds in with it, they might grow. We do so much on faith.

Today our church service was giving thanks, Remembrance Day theme.

Mum and I were talking to Rob and Donna. Their family has been hit hard this past nine months or so. Rob said within 18 hours of his dad’s (Brian’s) hospitalization he had passed away. A shock to them all. Today too I met the new South Baymouth resident who had bought Lucy Hill’s place, so welcome to Paul Crepeau.

Dawn Watkinson, happy birthday today! And if I got it right, Rae Keating (mum).

I’ve been singing Dark Moon, but it hasn’t been. It certainly has been showing lots of night light!

Speaking of light, Earl has the restaurant sparkling, and a huge snowman greeter. Lorrie gave me some reading material.

Lots of trucks, vehicles going by with four wheelers behind or in the back, lights in strange places. The hunters gather, I think!

Hey, this already is the Hunters’ dinner at the Tehkummah Hall this Saturday, November 19. St. Andrews by the Sea’s annual big fundraiser, turkey and all the trimmings.

Here it is Monday, past noon, and here I sit in the sun. Could almost wear a “kini,” it’s that nice. Fussing cats, one drunk on catnip.

Unbelievable weather! The ground is too/so dry that in spots the shovel rebels, or is that me?

Have a good week, I’m going to fatten up on chocolates (again). Folks are too kind to me. Have a great week, all.
