HAMID KHAJAVI

Hamid Khajavi, beloved father of Meldrum Bay Inn owner Shirin K. Grover and grandfather of Meldrum Bay Country Store owner Elena Parsi, passed away unexpectedly on July 22, 2012, at the age of 84, while on a trip to Tehran, Iran. Born on September 23, 1927 in Mazinan, a village in northeastern Iran, he was an accountant for the telecommunications board of Iran and a journalist who wrote for the national paper Ettela’at. He was also a poet, a clarinetist who loved traditional Persian music, an amateur sculptor who worked with stone, and a lover of the farms and forests of his native province, Khorasan. More importantly, he was a man of faith, tolerance, and integrity, who treasured his family. He and his wife Zinat came to Ottawa in 1994, to join their children who had already immigrated to Canada. Hamid Khajavi is survived by his wife; two sons, Ryan K. Kennedy and Nick Khajavi; three daughters, Shideh Khajavi, Shohre Khajavi, and Shirin K. Grover (Bob); and one granddaughter, Elena Parsi, and a large extended family. Friends are invited to attend a celebration of life beginning at 5 pm on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at the Meldrum Bay Inn.
