Manitoulin Tourism Association project to help build healthy, vibrant community

MANITOULIN—Ontario’s Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport has announced support for 152 non-profit initiatives to help bring positive change to communities across the province over the next three years. In Algoma-Manitoulin, the Manitoulin Tourism Association (MTA) will receive up to $28,900 to support a weekend ‘Hockey-Life Skills’ competition for youth ages four to 18. The project, currently in the conceptual stage, will help to foster more active lifestyles and is helping programs be safe, inclusive and fair.

“I’m very excited about the investment our government is making in non-profits across Ontario,” said Minister Eleanor McMahon. “Through the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF), we’re supporting projects that provide vital programs and services, make differences in people’s lives and have positive impacts in communities.”

The province is investing $31.6 million in non-profit initiatives through this latest round of funding through the OTF, supporting 474,000 people across the province. The OTF is an agency of the government of Ontario and one of Canada’s largest granting foundations.
