MANITOULIN—Get into the ghoulish season with haunted walks, dances and family events across Manitoulin.
The Expositor always enjoys getting in on the Halloween fun, too, and this year is no different. The newspaper’s annual trick or treat contest is once again encouraging readers to seek out the 20 Halloween candies hidden on ads throughout this newspaper. Once you have identified a candy located on the ad, jot down the page number and name of the business on the form located on page 6 of this paper and submit it to the Expositor by dropping it off at our Little Current office or by taking a photo and emailing it to expositor@manitoulin.ca by Halloween day, October 31, at 12 noon.
The Wikwemikong Haunted Escape House will be open from Thursday, October 27 until Monday, October 31 from 7 pm to 1 am. The escape house is located at 3245 Kaboni Road. Food and drinks will be sold.
The Great Spirit Circle Trail (GSCT) is once again holding its Haunted Trail this Friday, October 28 to Saturday, October 29 from 7 to 10 pm. Admission is $5. The GSCT is located at 5905 Highway 540 in M’Chigeeng. For more information, call 705-377-4404.
There will be a kids’ dance at the Little Current Legion on Friday night for kids ages 4-14 from 6-8 pm. Admission is $5 and juice and chips will be sold.
As well, Gordon/Barrie Island will be holding a kids’ dance on Friday night at the Gordon Barrie Hall from 7 to 10 pm. There will be prizes for the best costumes and a pumpkin patch that will open at 6 pm.
There will be also be a Halloween Dance on Saturday, October 29 at the Gore Bay Community Hall from 9 pm to 1 am. Admission is $10 if you sport a costume and $15 without with tickets available at the Gore Bay municipal office and the Gore Bay Loco Beanz. The evening will include prizes for the best costumes, games and a DJ. It is an age of majority event (19 or older) and ID is required. A designated driver will be available.
Get ready to dance at the Little Current Legion Halloween Dance on Saturday, October 29 from 9 pm to 1 am. Admission is $10, which includes a DJ, prizes and a light lunch. The dance is an age of majority event.
M’Chigeeng Minor Hockey is having a Haunted Halloween Dance on Saturday at the M’Chigeeng Community Complex. The doors will open at 9 pm for the licenced event (please bring ID). Music will be provided by DJ Blake Debassige. Admission is $5 with a costume and $10 without with lots of great prizes to be won.
Be prepared for a scare at the Halloween Horror Night on Saturday at the Rainbow Ridge Golf Course. Dress as your favourite movie/television horror character and prizes will be awarded for best individual costume and best couple. Dance the night away to live music and a DJ from Morning Star Audio. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Tickets are limited to 75 so get yours before they are gone.
There will be a Halloween Dance at the Providence Bay Hall on Saturday from 8 pm to 1 am. Tickets are $15 and limited to 150. DJ KTD from Sudbury will be spinning beats and there will be costume prizes. Proceeds from the event will be donated to kids skating in Providence Bay and Manitoulin Streams. There will be a 50/50 draw with proceeds going to the Manitoulin Family Resources Food Bank and a tip jar for the Providence Bay Village Square Project.
Strut your stuff at the Anchor Inn Hotel’s Monstrous Halloween on Saturday night. There will be prizes for the best costumes.
The Northeast Town will be holding a Children’s Halloween Party on Saturday from noon until 2 pm at the Centennial Museum of Sheguiandah. There will be a costume parade, Halloween games, refreshments and treats.
The Sheguiandah First Nation Youth will be hosting a haunted house on Saturday, October 29 and Sunday, October 30 from 6 to 10 pm at the Sheguiandah Recreation Centre (located across the highway from the Manitoulin Trading Post).
The Manitoulin Community Church in Tehkummah is hosting a free family harvest party on Monday, October 31 from 6 to 8 pm. The event will include carnival games for kids, candy and prizes, coffee, tea, pie and treats.
With so many spooktacular events, the scariest thing would be missing out on all the fun.
