In the absence of the president, the meeting was chaired by the past president Dave Sylvester. The meeting was well attended and included two new members. Jean Nielson and Alex Farrell were warmly welcomed and received the new information folder. Can two or more new members be welcomed at our next meeting on November? Think about it! Call Leona Sylvester at 705-368-1709 to join.

Great news! The new TV sets are installed and providing entertainment for patients. Thanks to Graham Lewis and the maintenance staff for the prompt installation. The new TV sets are paid in full with money from the general account, HELPP Lottery and the In Memoriam Fund. Now it’s time to build up our resources for the next project.

Fundraising was the main focus of the meeting. Several options and ideas were shared but no decisions were made, apart from regular events such as the casserole dinner and the sale of ornaments for the Memory Tree.

Regular fundraisers continue to do well. Thank you for your continued support.

The Harvest Sale was a success in spite of the rain! It closed early but most items were sold or bought by the volunteers working the sale. Thanks to Sue Lafreniere for a great job co-ordinating and planning the sale.

The Book Sales held at the Farmers’ Market on Saturdays surpassed the sales of previous years. A total of $1,325 was raised. A sincere thank you to all who purchased or donated books to continue to enhance patient services at the MHC site in Little Current. There will probably be a Book Sale in the cafeteria at the hospital before Christmas.

Some members are attending the Conference being held in Toronto on November 7 and 8. Dianne and Ted Musgrove will attend as regional representatives and one or two others will attend as MHC Auxiliary representatives. This is an Ontario-wide conference with renowned speakers and informative workshops. More news will follow in the November Auxiliary News.

Unfortunately, Dawn Orr has stepped down as vice-president as council and auxiliary meetings are the same evening. She will certainly continue to support and work with us in our projects.

Thank you to all who supported all our fundraisers to enable us to breathe a sigh of relief, hold our heads high and say “TVs are PAID IN FULL!
