MINDEMOYA—The Manitoulin Health Centre (MHC) cardiac monitoring equipment telemetry fundraising campaign received a significant boost this past Wednesday from the Mindemoya Hospital Auxiliary.
“We had previously made a pledge to provide $100,000 over two years to the MHC Mindemoya Hospital towards the telemetry fundraising campaign,” said Judy Mackenzie, president of the Mindemoya Hospital Auxiliary on Tuesday, prior to the official donation of the first $50,000 to the MHC, this past Wednesday.
“The (MHC) fundraising campaign is toward replacing the telemetry equipment, which is outdated and needs to be replaced, in both hospitals,” said Ms. Mackenzie.
In a hospital setting, wireless telemetry services not only provides the patient with mobility, it also provides the nursing staff with a more efficient way to keep an eye on their patients. As wireless sensors attached to the patient transmit data to the nurses’ station or other centralized location, data can be sent on a continuing-instead of intermittent-basis, no matter where the patient is in the hospital. Wireless medical telemetry also allows nurses to monitor multiple patients simultaneously.
