Mom passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Wexford Residence in Toronto. Predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Joseph (Scotty) Robinson, in 1989. Survived by her son Thomas Richard (Beverly) of North Delta, BC, son Robert George (deceased Pauline) of Trenton, ON, daughter Mary Ellen Trimble of Toronto and daughter Heather Anne Moynan (Myles) of Owen Sound. Will always be remembered by her eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Verna was born in Silver Bay on the Manitoulin Island to Richard and Aola Coe, graduated from Normal School in North Bay and began her teaching career on the Northshore near Blind River at a one room schoolhouse when she met and married Joseph and they moved to Sudbury. The family moved to Mindemoya after the war and to Elliot Lake in 1956. Mom was an active member of the Anglican Church, a member of the Eastern Star, Women’s Auxilary, an avid and excellent bridge player, an advisor on Hand and Foot, and loved ice fishing, shooting across the ice on her machine into her 90s. She often spoke of her students at the North Shore, Carnarvon Township and in Elliot Lake. Mom was fiesty to the end, rest now in peace. Verna was previously cremated following a private ceremony and will be interned in Elliot Lake on Wednesday, October 5, 2016. A service was held in Toronto at the Paul O’Connor Funeral Home on October 3, 2016 at 11 am followed by a reception. 1939 Lawrence Avenue East, Toronto, Ontario, 416-751-7890.
