CLARENCE AUGUSTINE “GUS” MIGWANS

September 18,1959 – July 10,2012

In loving memory of Gus Migwans, a resident of M’Chigeeng, who passed away Tuesday, July 10,2012 at the age of 52. He was the son of the late Clarence Abel and Bertha Migwans. Gus left the Island for Florida, but had returned home in recent years. Gus was a fine storyteller with a great sense of humour. Gus had played hockey with the Chigeeng Thunderbirds in his younger years and had remained an avid hockey fan. Although he didn’t play, Gus attended all the horseshoe games and tournaments, cheering for his favorites. He was known for his love of nature and it wasn’t unusual for him to be out on his nature walks. Loving and loved brother of Thomas of Kenora, Ontario. Uncle to Adam, Marco, and Jonathan (Diane Bebonang), and great-uncle of Katryna. Nephew of Pearl Debassige, Jeanette Scott (David), Martina (Gary), Julie (Gordon), Amy, Pat, Cecile (Marvin), Alfreda, Cheyenne (Cecile) and Duke (Charlene). Predeceased by his sister Genevieve and nephew Byron. Friends and family were received at the M’Chigeeng Complex after 6 pm on Thursday, July 12, 2012. The funeral mass was celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 11 am with Father Jim Kelly as celebrant. Interment in M’Chigeeng Cemetery.
