Snowdusters to host Bill 100 info night this Thursday, June 16

MINDEMOYA—This Thursday night, June 16, Manitoulin landowners will have a chance to air their concerns or ask questions of Bill 100, the Ontario Trails Act, 2016, as it pertains to their property through an information night hosted by the Manitoulin Snowdusters Snowmobile Club.

Chair for the evening will be Murray Baker, Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) District 12 Governor, of which Manitoulin is a part, who will also speak to Bill 100 and snowmobile trails.

Algoma-Manitoulin MPP Michael Mantha will also be on hand. Mr. Mantha sat on the committee that oversaw the recent changes to Bill 100, including changes to the contentious easements portion of the bill

Randy Walker will also be presenting at the information night. Mr. Walker is the president of the Stoney Keppel Riders snowmobile club near Owen Sound. He also sits on the board for District 9 (Georgian Bay) of OFSC and will concentrate on the experiences they have had with Bill 100 in his area, which has been hard hit with landowners pulling out of the trail system. Mr. Walker has also been active in terms of input to the amendments made to Bill 100 in its final form.

The Snowdusters will also be welcoming Pat Connor of the Ontario Trails Council to the agenda.

Snowdsuters executive member Brad Middleton will also address the group to give the audience a “Reader’s Digest version” of what the OFSC insurance policy does and does not cover.

The floor will then be opened up for questions from members of the public.

The meeting this Thursday, June 16 gets underway at 7 pm at the Mindemoya Community Centre.
