TORONTO—The Sudbury Student Services Consortium (SSSC) and District 3, Rainbow (Board) of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation (OSSTF/FEESO), representing the Consortium’s route planners and technology specialists, have reached a tentative deal, averting a strike that was set to begin this week.
Ratification will be completed by May 31.
“Although we were prepared to back up our demands with strike action, we are pleased with the result achieved at the bargaining table through good will and persistence on the part of both sides,” said Lucie Bisson, president of OSSTF/FEESO District 3, SSSC.
Rob Gascho, a member of OSSTF/FEESO’s provincial executive and chair of the bargaining team said, “we’re pleased that we were able to reach a satisfactory agreement. It demonstrates that fair and reasonable results can be achieved when reasonable people respect the collective bargaining process.”
