Early morning blaze destroys building at Killarney Mountain Lodge

KILLARNEY—An early morning blaze completely destroyed a newly constructed building at the historic Killarney Mountain Lodge.

According to reports, one was injured in the fire that kept the 12-person Killarney Fire Department working through the night and into the following morning battling what is described as the largest fire ever to hit the small resort town.

Firefighters were able to contain the blaze, limiting most of the damage to a newly constructed guest house and saving a number of nearby buildings, marina, boats and local general store.

Firefighters remain on the scene and the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office has been called in to investigate the cause of the fire.

Killarney Mountain Lodge had recently undergone an $18 million renovation, but the building lost in the fire was a newly constructed edifice.
