Public Safety Alert: Police warn of stolen morphine hitting Manitoulin streets

M’CHIGEENG FIRST NATION–During the morning of May 18, a break and enter occurred at a residence located in Pinewood Park on M’Chigeeng First Nation.

The break and enter was reported to police, where it was determined that someone entered the residence and took prescription medication. It is believed that the prescription medication was the target of this crime. Approximately 70 morphine tablets are unaccounted for at this time.

The prescription medication stolen may cause serious bodily harm or death if ingested. If you believe that someone may have ingested any medication that has not been prescribed to them, they will require medical attention.

Police are aware that the abuse and sale of prescription drugs continues to be of huge concern to the well being of people in our communities. Members of the public are urged to take extra precautions in the care of legal and prescribed medications. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to immediately call the UCCM Anishnaabe Police at 705-377-7135 or the Sudbury Crimestoppers to leave an anonymous tip at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
