Killarney Mountain Lodge Welcomes Chef Lee Fortune for Chefs Across the Great Lakes

KILLARNEY–Diners looking forward to the arrival of spring seasonal produce, an array of local proteins, amazing flavour combinations, colours, textures, and cooking techniques can look no further. On Wednesday, May 25 Chef Lee Fortune from the Twisted Olive in Petoskey, Michigan will cross the Great Lakes to prepare an exquisite four-course meal in the Killarney Mountain Lodge (KML) kitchen for Chefs Across the Great Lakes. The resort is one of North Eastern Ontario’s best adventure resorts now undergoing an extensive 18 million dollar renovation to update amenities and provide guests with unparalleled service.

This is the second season Killarney Mountain Lodge has invited top-notch chefs to take part in Chefs Across the Great Lakes, a culinary exchange designed to foster friendships within the Great Lakes communities and bring talented chefs together to create memorable dining experiences. General Manager of the Killarney Mountain Lodge, Kelly McAree, said “We’re excited to welcome Chef Lee Fortune from the Twisted Olive to prepare exceptional cuisine for our guests to enjoy. These exchanges build lasting relationships in the region and at the same time support a deserving local organization.”

In October, Killarney will send their chef, Guy Bedard, to Petoskey to complete the exchange.

Chef Lee Fortune’s spring menu offers the arrival of fresh delicate vibrant green vegetables. Dishes include a first course of ras-al-hanout encrusted ahi tuna, with mango relish, harissa aioli, shaved fennel and arugula salad. The second course features spring vegetable panzanella salad with ramps (locally known as wild leeks), asparagus, and greens, along with pickled local mushrooms in warm sherry brown butter vinaigrette. Guests will then feast on the main course, a Moroccan spice, marinated chicken breast accompanied by carrot mash and broccolini. The meal finishes with decadent, burnt caramel custard. The Twisted Olive is renowned for its gourmet cuisine, having recently hosted Top Chef stars for a Top Chef dinner.

The second Chefs Across the Great Lakes event takes place on June 7, 2016 when two of Michigan’s best chefs, Sous Chef Tony Murad and Chef Michael Trombley, from the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn Michigan, take part.

The Chefs Across The Great Lakes four-course dinner, featuring the Twisted Olive chefs at Killarney Mountain Lodge, will take place on Wednesday, May 25 at 7 pm. Tickets are $65 per person with proceeds going to Killarney Elementary School. To make dinner reservations please call, (705) 287-2242.
