October 26, 1927- April 1, 2016
In loving memory of a True Islander, Leona Jean Marshall, who passed away peacefully at Manitoulin Centennial Manor on April 1, 2016 with dear family by her side. Born to Laura (nee Coulam) and Wallace Russel Moore, in Honora, Manitoulin on October 26, 1927. Beloved wife of Sheldon Ferguson Marshall (predeceased 1963). Loving mother of Judy (predeceased 1999) and Ed (Alana). Proud grandmother of Kelly Kaminski (husband Jeff), Peter Villella, Jessica Lee Marshall (husband Shane Dennien), Jonathan Marshall, and great-grandmother of Meghan and Ashley. Dear sister of Melvin Moore (predeceased) (wife Mildred), Verna Heise (husband Boyne predeceased), Stella Still (predeceased) (husband Jim). Will always be remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Leona was the Supervisor of Housekeeping at the Manitoulin Centennial Manor for 25 years. She loved gardening (vegetables, not flowers!), fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, playing horseshoes and the occasional trip to the casino. Leona possessed a great sense of humour and had a mischievous side to her personality. She loved to spend time with her family and friends. Leona lived as a dedicated Islander in God’s Country and now rests in God’s hands. Ed would like to thank all the people who looked out for Leona for the many years he was overseas. Family and friends gathered at Island Funeral Home. Visitation was Monday, April 4, 2016 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm. Funeral Service was held at 11 am on April 5, 2016. Burial will be at Coldsprings Cemetery later in the spring. Donations to Manitoulin Centennial Manor Auxiliary, Daffodil Terrace or to the Alzheimers Society would be greatly appreciated. Island Funeral Home can only accept cheques for all charitable donations. Record your thoughts, memories and photos at www.islandfuneralhome.ca.
