The Easter long weekend and nice weather brought lots of people out visiting family and friends. The boardwalk and playground was full of life with everyone soaking up the sun and anticipating more summer fun to come.
There were still lots of people busy out in their sugar shacks this long weekend even though Old Man Winter gave us another hit of lots of that white stuff last Thursday. But Mother Nature’s warmth put rays of sunshine out onto her trees and spring flowers once again. Hope everyone put their sunscreen on!
Bruce Orford and Alison Pyette had their Stag and Doe on Saturday night. DJ John Roy supplied everyone with great music which kept the dance floor hopping. A great time was had by all! Congratulations to Bruce and Alison.
The annual Bradley McAllister 4 on 4 hockey tournament held over the weekend brought out lots of fans for once again an exciting weekend of good time hockey. What an excellent fundraiser by our town. Big thanks go out to all our great volunteers who make this event a wonderful success. Winner of the Ladies’ event, Kyras Angels; 40 and Over, M’Chigeeng; Sportsman A, Pearson.
Big congratulations go out to Don and Naida Prescott on their 60th wedding anniversary, which is Thursday, March 31. It just seems like yesterday… (March 31, 1956). How happy times just seem to fly buy.
Welcome home Irene Cornish, we sure hope you brought back some of that southern warmth. Steve and Kerry Barclay are up visiting Shirley Cranston for the Easter holidays.
Remember what day this Friday is… Don’t let anyone fool you and keep one step ahead if you’re the trickster type.
Update on Travis Dewar’s fundraising auction to raise money for Health Sciences North, North East Cancer Centre. We reported that the first litre of maple syrup from their shack went for a bid of $400 by Rob Smith but Brenda Barrett stepped up and matched Rob’s bid bringing the total to $800. Travis also told us that other donations keep coming in with an additional $825 raised to date. Now those are fantastic numbers for the cause and something to be proud of.
