One man charged with second degree murder in Wikwemikong

WIKWEMIKONG – The Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service, with assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North East Region Crime Unit, and the OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit (FISU), under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) Acting Detective Inspector Mark Zulinski, are currently investigating the death of a Wikwemikong man which occurred at the Unceded Territory of Wikwemikong.‎

On February 28, 2016 police were called to a residence in Wikwemikong where they discovered the deceased, Frank OSAWAMICK, 45 years old, of Wikwemikong.

Julius TRUDEAU, 48 years old, of Wikwemikong has been charged with Second Degree Murder contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

Following a bail hearing today, he has been ordered held in custody until his next court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on March 10, 2016.

The investigation is continuing.
