M.S.S. Kids in the Halls

Second semester has just started and students and staff are settling into their new schedules and classes. MSS welcomed back several teachers: Ms. Wilson, Mrs. Clark and Mrs. Hutchinson. Semester one report cards are being mailed out next week so don’t forget to check your mail.

The public speaking competitors are presenting their speeches for fellow students and staff on Monday, preparing for their Legion competitions.

The Mustangs boys’ hockey team won the championship in the tournament they competed in last weekend in Burlington. The team played Confederation and the score was 4-3. Parker Dickinson says, “We won in a shootout and Ben Haner scored the only goal in the shootout.”

Sports are also underway once more. The Mustang boys’ hockey team played St. Charles on Monday for playoffs. Boys junior and senior basketball travelled on Tuesday to Blind River for their first game of second semester.

The Snowmobile Fun Run, organized by Mr. Davy and the OPP/UCCM, will take place Thursday through Friday. Thursday, February 11 will consist of in school seminars by the OPP/UCCM Police about snow vehicle regulations, wilderness survival, and trailside first aid. On Friday, February 12, the participating students will ride all day with UCCM/OPP and community members, stopping for lunch at Green Acres. Mr. Robinson will be riding with the group of approximately 35 people.

The MSS musical Once Upon a Mattress is opening tomorrow night. The cast had their final dress rehearsal this morning and are excited to perform for the community. The cast, techies, directors and PI worked hard for three months to get the show ready. Tickets are available at the door, so come on out and see the show and be prepared for some surprise guests to make an appearance.

Sports are back, the show is about to open, and students are in their second semester classes. ‘Til next time, stay golden, Mustangs.
