Belated anniversary wishes go out to Weston and Gail Leeson. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary with a come and go tea at the Community of Christ Church on Saturday, January 9.
Condolences go out to the family of Bill Wilson last week. His family is in our hearts.
The ice has been forming in the bay. It’s amazing to see the ‘snow dunes’ and the slushy ice as it pushes up against shore. We’ve sure gotten our fair share of snow now. Once winter decided to arrive, it did so with a vengeance. Luckily there are only 59 more days until spring.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery go out to Naida Prescott. Naida and Don Prescott are greatly missed in the community after selling their longtime business Prescott’s Restaurant. We hope she’ll be up and at it again in no time.
Garry Bryan had an extended stay at Health Sciences North in Sudbury. We hope to see you soon up and about and feeling back to your old self.
The annual Pearson Cup Hockey Tournament was held at the arena this past weekend. It was a great time. The A Sportsmen Division was won by the Super Chiefs from M’Chigeeng. The winning goal was scored by Justice Corbiere. Way to go Justice. Auntie Jackie is proud of you. They beat out the Stewart Team 4-3. The B Sportsmen Division was won by Stuart Pearson’s team. The winners of the 35ers A division were the Wiky Reds beating out M’Chigeeng. And finally the Refills, another local team, came out of their slump and beat out Gore Bay. Some exciting hockey was held. Way to go to all teams and a great big thank you to all the fans who came out to watch. All proceeds from this tournament assist our community.
Quilting is being held at the Twilight Club every Friday morning at 9 am weather permitting.
