Spring Bay News

The past week has been a busy time for Barry and I attending appointments with doctors in Sudbury (for minor surgery to correct a “trigger finger” and in Hamilton for medication allergy tests). The trip to Hamilton was necessitated by a meds allergy specialist at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. Following a teleconference call this “specialist” telephoned once and left a message: Please call and we can set up appointments for tests. Barry returned her call plus 21 times and she sent three for the appointments. The last call to the number she had given us resulted in the following reply: “ Dr. Shapiro doesn’t have an office in this hospital….. we cannot help you!” This same statement was given when it was explained we had a telephone conference call with her from Sunnybrook Hospital. At this point Barry called our family doctor and said that if this alleged “specialist” was so stupid that she couldn’t return calls, he didn’t want anything further to do with her! After considerable effort, the staff at Mindemoya Hospital made an appointment with a specialist in Hamilton about 11 days after the date this doctor was contacted…. So much for the greatness of ne of Toronto’s super hospitals! There are so many medication allergy specialists but, very few that take adults as patients.

While in Hamilton, we visited with a cousin. This was quite enjoyable although the trip home on the 16th was terrible due to the poor weather conditions. Many people are finishing their Christmas shopping and the kids (large and small) will be looking forward to Christmas Day together with the holidays. It is always a busy time of the year!

We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy healthy New Year.

Every time I bend over, cough or splutter, either my radiator leaks or my exhaust backfires!
