Douglas Allan Boyle, age 71, of Mindemoya, Manitoulin Island, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 13, 2015 at his residence. Doug was born in Concord, California on April 02, 1944. Doug was the devoted son of Owen Boyle and Mary (Tustian), both predeceased. The family lived in Concord for a short time before moving to Tillsonburg, Ontario where he was raised and began his own family and professional career. Doug married the love of his life Brenda (Tribe) on September 11, 1965. They proudly celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. His job eventually moved him and his family to Oakville, Ontario until he retired. Doug achieved great success working at Livingston International in various executive level positions for over 31 years and accomplished his ultimate dream of being able to retire and move to Manitoulin Island with Brenda. During his retirement years he became a very active and well respected member within the community and the church. Doug was on the Board for Community Living Manitoulin, a leader on many development projects for his church renovations and planning, and most recently he enjoyed assisting in the weekly services by creating the powerpoint presentations. Doug will be deeply missed by his sisters and brothers, Bettylyn Enns (John), Robert (Rose), Ron (Donna, predeceased), and Pat (Marlene). He was the loving father to Susan Boyle, Steve Boyle (Joanne) and Shari Bernardo (Dino), and the proud ‘Papa’ to Britney, Steven, Isabella, Christian, Emma, Kaitlyn and Chelsea. He will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews and cousins. Doug will be remembered fondly by his many good friends. Visitation will be held for Doug on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 starting at 11 am at the Mindemoya Missionary Church with service to follow. Burial will follow the funeral service at Mindemoya Cemetery. Following the graveside service, family and friends are welcome back to the church for refreshments and to share their fondest memories of Doug with all those close to him. Donations in memory of Doug may be made to the Mindemoya Missionary Church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Simpson Funeral Home in Gore Bay.
