Nicholas Sparks is a writer whose stories touch the heart. His novel, ‘The Longest Ride,’ is no exception to this fact. This is one of his best books to be sure. It features two uniquely diverse couples. When the lives of these four people collide the difference in their years and experience falls away and hard choices finally made, create incredible ventures.

‘Shantaram’ by Australian author Gregory David Roberts is an extraordinary novel. The writer’s respect for and knowledge of his adoptive country, India is very evident and extremely obvious on every page. This book hooks the reader from page one. It is one of those stories that you just don’t want to turn the last page on. A great read!

Teen Picks: ‘Underground Soldier’ by Marsha Skrypuch and ‘Jackpot’ by Gordon Korman.

DVD Pick: ‘The Mortal Instruments’ starring Lucy Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower. An ordinary teenager discovers her own secret powers.
