SAULT STE. MARIE—Manitoulin Secondary School (MSS) had an excellent showing at the Northern Ontario Secondary School Athletics (NOSSA) cross-country championships held last week in Sault Ste. Marie, with one runner heading for the provincial championships this weekend.
James Scott, who raced in the junior boys’ 6K, placed fourth with a time of 21:46 which earned him a berth at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) cross-country championships.
In the senior girls’ 5K, Karissa Merrylees placed 25th with a time of 23:29; 28th, McKenzie Turner, 24:05; 44th, Jessica Marshall, 25:18; and 67th, Camille Poitras, 27:26.
William Scott raced in the senior boys’ 7.25K division placing 49th with a finish time of 29:42.
James will represent Manitoulin at OFSAA this Saturday at Highlands Nordic in Duntroon.
