The Seniors Twilight Club held their monthly potluck luncheon and general meeting on Monday, September 28. The Twilight Club is open to anyone 50 years or older. They meet on the last Monday of each month at the Centennial Hall in town.
The weekly euchre games are being held at the hall every Tuesday night beginning at 8 pm. Everyone is welcome. It costs $3 to enter and another $1 for the door prize. Come on out and play cards and have some fun. Every last Tuesday of the month is the tournament round. You must have a partner to play in the tournament and it costs $5. Hope to see you out!
The North Shore Federation of Agriculture had its annual dinner at the Centennial Hall on Friday, October 2. There was a great turnout. Thank you to all members for your hard work to ensure that we all have meat on our tables.
Central Manitoulin Municipal Complex is one of the advanced polling centres for the federal election on Monday, October 19. It will be open from 12noon to 8pm October 9, 10, 11 and 12. If you haven’t received your voter information card in the mail, make sure you are registered to vote. We should all exercise our right to voice our opinion and vision for the future of our country by voting for the party most in line with our beliefs. The salmon continue to come in and spawn in the Mindemoya River. They’ve attracted the attention of four bald eagles. They are such a beautiful and noble bird to see. The salmon who die after spawning are providing food in the cycle of life.
The curling club held its monthly breakfast fundraiser. There was a good crowd of regulars but not much to report from any visitors. They still have the coffee club every weekday morning from 7 to 9:30 am.
The Thanksgiving long weekend is coming up. We’re all looking forward to visiting family and friends. Visiting now is Steve Barclay and Kerry (Cranston). She recently had eye surgery. We wish her a speedy recovery.
