MINDEMOYA — Rick Piché and The Hawberry Boys are presenting a Fifties and Sixties Dance at the Mindemoya Community Centre on Friday, September 11 from 7:30 to 11 pm, so get your old fifties and sixties clothes out of the closet and you could win a prize!
Strut your stuff to the music of Elvis, Patsy Cline, The Everly Brothers, The Platters, Chuck Berry, and many more. Whether you twist like Chubby Checker or Rock Around the Clock like Bill Haley and The Comets, this is all about having a fun night. Come in costume or wear whatever you like.
“Last year’s dance was a sell-out and we are hoping to get a good crowd again,” says Mr. Piché. There will be prizes for the best fifties and sixties costumes as well as spot dances. If you get a little hungry, there will also be a light lunch provided. Tickets are $20 advance, $25 at the door and are available at Kat’s Pet Supplies in Mindemoya; The Source in Gore Bay; The Manitoulin Expositor in Little Current; or by phoning 705-859-3925.
So get rid of those ‘Summertime Blues’ and don’t stay home saying ‘Oh Lonesome Me.’ Put on your ‘Blue Suede Shoes’ and come out to ‘Shake Rattle and Roll’ with us. Who knows, you might meet your ‘Earth Angel,’ ‘Dream Lover’ or ‘Barbara Ann.’ This is a fundraising concert for St. Francis Anglican Church in Mindemoya.
