BEATRICE LAKE

In loving memory of Beatrice Lake (Bea) 78 years who passed away on August 17, 2015 at Manitoulin Health Centre in Little Current, Ontario. Beloved sister to Margaret (Lee) Robinson, aunt to Tatiana Robinson, Patricia Calbeck, great-aunt to Anna Robinson, niece to Catherine (Doris) Audsley, cousin to Marge Miller, (Geoff Miller-husband to Marge), cousin to John and Tony Bolger (Amanda Bolger-wife to Tony) (who all referred to her as Auntie Bea). Beatrice was predeceased by her twin at birth, father Alexander Lake, her mother Delia Charette, stepfather Herman Charette and brother Albert (Sonny) Lake. She will be sadly missed by her Uncle John Francis and (his wife Rachael in Michigan), her cousins from the Trudeau family in Wikwemikong and West Bay and all her friends and neighbours. Beatrice’s two proudest moments in her life were graduating as a health care aide and working at Centennial Manor in Little Current for 25 years and when she became a DOS (Diocesan Order of Service) at St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church in Little Current. She felt privileged to be of service to the Catholic community on Manitoulin Island where she volunteered in her church in her capacity as a DOS. Beatrice will be remembered for her sense of humour, generous nature, compassion and willingness to help anyone in need-always with a smile. Her abiding faith in Christ was always unwavering and was an example to others even in her last days. We asked her once if she would be our guardian angel and she said she would be “everyone’s guardian angel!” That’s just who she was. Her family would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to all of her caregivers at Manitoulin Health Centre. We couldn’t have wished her to be anywhere else during her difficult months, due to their excellent and caring attention. They treated her as well as if she was a family member, and we really acknowledge and appreciate that. Many thanks also to all her friends and neighbours who visited her regularly, prayed with her, did special favors for her and cared for her. Thanks to her friends who provided a place to stay for out-of-town relatives so special moments could be spent with Bea. She certainly had a loving community that truly cared about her in so many ways. Family and friends will gather for visitation at Island Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 from 2 pm to 3:30 pm and from 7 pm to 8:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be at 11 am on Friday, August 21, 2015 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. Burial in St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Luncheon to follow. Donations in her memory in lieu of flowers to Manitoulin Health Centre Auxiliary would be appreciated. You can donate at the funeral home on Wednesday or mail to MHC Aux., Box 640, Little Current, ON P0P 1K0 (please mark you cheque in memory of Beatrice Lake).
