SHIRLEY ANNE THORKILSON

Thorkilson DeathShirley Anne Thorkilson of Gore Bay passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Manitoulin Lodge on Saturday, August 15, 2015 in her 77th year. Beloved mother of Norman (Mandy) of Sault Ste. Marie and dear grandmother of Taylor and Hunter. Shirley will be sadly missed by her brother Ken (Heather) Nodecker of Gore Bay, sister Marilee (Doug) Hore of Little Current, sister-in-law Ann Nodecker of Abbotsford, B.C. and Aunt Jessica (Clarence) Collins of New York, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her parents Kenneth and Frederacka (Moore) Nodecker and her brother Deforest (Pete). Shirley was very active in her church and its choir, the Island choir and Eastern Star. She was well known in areas of Fort Frances, Sault Ste. Marie and the Island for her over 50 years as a hairdresser. Family and friends called at the Culgin Funeral Home, Gore Bay, on Monday, August 17 from 7 pm to 9 pm. An Eastern Star service was held at 6:45 pm. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Lyon’s Memorial United Church or Manitoulin Lodge Auxiliary as expressions of sympathy. www.culginfuneralhome.ca.
