Contrary to popular belief, cigarette butts are not biodegradable! Cigarette butt waste is a huge environmental issue, with a global impact—it is both unsightly and unhealthy at our beach. These contribute to pollution in our watersheds when they are thrown in parking lots that get carried with wind and rain into our drains and then washed in to the river and lakes. Please help keep our beach clean by disposing of cigarette butts in the empty ice cream buckets by the discovery centre on the board walk or by putting them out, keeping them and then properly disposing of them in the garbage. This way, shoreline birds and small children will not mistakenly puts these toxins in their mouths. For more information visit: http://www.beachapedia.org/Hold_On_To_Your_Butt
