In loving memory of Merle Morrison, a resident of Gore Bay and formerly of Meldrum Bay, who died at the Manitoulin Health Centre, Mindemoya, on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at the age of 91 years. Merle was born in Gordon Township, daughter of the late Charles and Louise (Morden) Wismer. Merle had worked at the Meldrum Bay Lighthouse for four years and had been custodian at Bayside Apartments for 10 years. She had a wide range of interests which included quilting, reading, having coffee at the coffee club and she loved to dance. Merle was the 4th generation of her family to be a member of the Ice Lake Church of Christ. She was always there to help when needed by friends or neighbours and will be remembered as a “kind hearted soul.” Merle’s greatest love in her life was her family. She was happiest when being with family and many wonderful memories will be cherished. Merle was predeceased by her beloved husband Lawrence on May 7, 1988. Loving and loved mother of Larry (Jennie) of Gore Bay and Tom of BC. Proud grandmother of Ed of Peterborough and Genni Butt (Chris) of Burlington and great-grandchildren Ethan and Avery. Dear sister of Orland and Lois Wismer of Silver Water, Arlene and John McQuarrie of Gore Bay and Glennys McGibbon of Barrie. Also will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Friends called at the Culgin Funeral Home after 7 pm on Friday, March 30, 2012. The funeral service to celebrate Merle’s life was conducted in the Wm. G. Turner Chapel on Saturday, March 31 at 11 am with Pastor Joel Lock officiating. Interment in Meldrum Bay Cemetery.
