Appreciation for the elves at the Senior Ladies’ Golf Tournament

Mastermind Gloria Thompson recognized with hurrahs and doffed bling adorned visors

To the Expositor:

It was a great day for the Senior Ladies’ Golf Tournament at Rainbow Ridge, celebrating its 10th anniversary. Because of a bigger venue needed to accommodate all the ladies who participate in this charity fundraising tournament, it was held at the Assiginack Curling Club and catered by the Rainbow Ridge Golf Course. The hall stood before us adorned with magnificent handmade decorations. One wall was lined with photographs and memories from the past 10 years.

‘Blingy’ visors were being sold at a minimal price. Some ladies were wearing bling and decorated their golf carts. Kudos to them. Before the shotgun start at 9:30 am, we were treated to coffee, juice, fruit, cheese and pastries. After nine holes, the ladies were served a light delicious lunch and back on the links at 1 pm. After a grueling back nine holes, but happy and grateful for the sunny weather, we all gathered in the hall. More surprises! Elves had adorned each table with silver painted wine bottles, coffee beans spray painted silver, glass diamonds and I’m forgetting some, I’m sure. At each individual place sat a small box hand made by Gloria Thompson containing a costume jewellery ring. What a nice touch!

A simply scrumptious supper of turkey and all the fixings was served. Each team member received a wonderful prize. There were draws and quite a few delighted winners. Gloria Thompson was the mastermind behind this marvelous event, devoting this past year preparing and making it unforgettable. Our visors are off to you, Gloria! Well done! Thank you!
