PARRY SOUND – On April 21, 2015 the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated multiple thefts from vehicles in the Village of Humphrey in Seguin Township. There were a total of fourteen parked, unattended and unlocked vehicles where the contents of the vehicle were taken. Numerous items and cash were stolen.
During the early morning on April 24, 2015 a resident on Sandy Plains Road called police reporting someone with a flashlight was on their property. Members of the West Parry Sound OPP located a waiting vehicle and arrested three males. The investigation revealed that the males were also involved in the previous thefts on April 21, 2015.
Brandan DASHNAY, 18 years of age from Tiny Township has been charged with:
- Two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC).
- Theft Under $5000, contrary to the CCC.
- Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Marihuana – under 30 grams as per the Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA).
Two males from Penetanguishene have been identified as young offenders ranging in age between 15 and 17 years old. Both have been charged with:
- Two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC).
- Theft Under $5000, contrary to the CCC.
- Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Marihuana – under 30 grams as per the Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA).
Further charges are pending. The three accused were held in custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound for a bail hearing.
