Several $100 bills passed in Parry Sound

PARRY SOUND – On March 27, 2015 the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) warned area residents that counterfeit United States currencies were being passed in our neighbouring northern communities. Yesterday, the suspects travelled through Parry Sound.

OPP responded to 3 calls of counterfeit $ 100.00 US bills being passed or attempted to being passed at local businesses.  As a result of quick calls to Police a suspect vehicle was identified and neighbouring Police agencies were notified. Yesterday afternoon Southern Georgian Bay OPP responded to similar complaints and located the vehicle in Midland.  3 Sudbury residents were arrested and two were held for bail.

The OPP are asking local retailers to call West Parry Sound OPP if they took in a suspected counterfeit bill yesterday of if an attempt to pass the counterfeit bills were made in their business. Anyone with relevant information about this fraud is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310 1122.
