John Frederick “Harold” Thirkill, a resident of Mindemoya and retired teacher from MSS, died peacefully at Manitoulin Health Centre, Mindemoya Site, on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the age of 82. Born to Jessie (nee Wagg) and Fred Thirkill, at Stouffville on December 11, 1932. Predeceased by beloved wife Carol (January 14, 1994). Loved father of Kathy (Richard), Harold (Stephanie). Proud grandpa of Kaitlyn, TJ and John. Dear brother of Fran (predeceased), Jim (Merle), George (Dee), Pat (Dave), and Ron (Lynda). Will always be remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Family and friends gathered at Island Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 6, 2014 from 7 pm to 9 pm. Funeral Services will be at Mindemoya Missionary Church on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at 11 am with Pastor Ray Kloestra officiating. Burial will be at Mindemoya Cemetery in the spring. Donations to the Mindemoya Hospital Auxilary would be appreciated in Harold’s memory or to a charity of your choice.
