Family of missing foster child thanks Island community for his safe return

A big thank you to the officers who worked through the night to find him

To the Expositor:

Late last month our family went through something I hope and pray we never have to endure again; the disappearance of a child. Although he was our foster child we had grown to love him as our own in the year he was with us so the worry and heartache was the same. Because of the circumstances surrounding his disappearance an amber alert could not be issued. As a parent I felt pretty helpless so I turned to social media and our local community for help. The help came in droves and far exceeded my expectations. I am writing this letter today to express my sincere gratitude to those who acted fast and spread the word.

The Facebook post was spread as far as B.C. and the Yukon. I am so proud of our Island community and I am proud to be a part of it. Thousands of people were looking for him because of the fast actions of so many people. Thank you also to those who called with tips and thank you to his friends who were able to help aid the police in their investigation. Also a big thank you to the officers who worked through the night trying to find him. Because of all of you he is safe today. I can never say it enough, thank you!
