Ted (TJ) Jackson of Gore Bay passed away peacefully with his family and friends by his side at Manitoulin Lodge on Thursday, December 11, 2014 in his 78th year. Loved husband of Rose and dear father of Suzanne (Mike) White of Providence Bay, Deanne (Mike) Rudd of Philadelphia USA, Ed (Amber) of Washington D.C., step-father of Lisa Townsend (Tim Orford) of Meldrum Bay, Shauna (Mike) Townsend-Bignal of Gore Bay and Cynthia (Chris) Townsend-Lewis of Espanola. Ted will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Jary, Trevor, Jack, Sam, step-grandchildren B.J., Gavin, Emma and Aidan as well as brothers and sisters-in-law Murray (Peggy) Matheson, Mike (Anne) Matheson, Bill Robinson, Sylvia (Laird) Beange and Joanne Gunter, as well as many nieces, nephews and close friends. Predeceased by his first wife Judy (Pearson) parents Leonard and Florence (McKinley), sisters Lenora McLean, Betty Robinson and brother-in-law Charlie McLean. Ted graduated from McNeese University in Lake Charles, Louisiana on a track scholarship. He taught phys ed at M.S.S. for 26 years, where he was a highly recognized top coach in track and field in the province of Ontario, taking many athletes to provincial championships. Ted was an avid curler, golfer, Blue Jays fan and archery champion. Visitation was held on Monday, December 15, 2014 at the Culgin Funeral Home, Gore Bay, from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm. A celebration of Ted’s life was held at the Lyons United Church, Gore Bay on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 11 am.
