Stolen cigarettes recovered

AUNDECK OMNI KANING FIRST NATION–On November 29, 2014 UCCM Police were called to investigate a break, enter and theft Gunner’s Gas Bar on the Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation. Police determined that the culprit entered the business and once inside, stole a large amount of cigarettes and some confectionary items. The UCCM Police SOCO (Scenes Of Crime Officer) completed a crime scene examination and gathered forensic evidence from the scene. The dollar amount of stolen cigarettes and other items exceeds $5,000.

During the subsequent investigation and assistance from witnesses, police identified a suspect. As a result of this information, a large portion of the stolen cigarettes have been recovered by police.

A 34-year-old male of Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation was later arrested and charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and scheduled to appear in Gore Bay Court on December 15, 2014. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear and a Undertaking before an Officer in Charge.
