THESSALON – On Monday October 6, 2014 at approximately 2:00am officers of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a Toyota Corolla on Highway 17 in Thessalon Township. Officers approached the vehicle and spoke to the two occupants of the vehicle.
As a result of the investigation the driver, Ishamar SAVORY age 29 of Whitby, Ontario has been charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Carrying a concealed weapon
- Unauthorized possession of a weapon
- Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
- Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
- Tampering with serial number on a firearm
- Possession of firearm while prohibited
- Possession of a schedule II substance
The passenger of the vehicle Anthony THOMAS age 23 of Toronto, Ontario has also been charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
Carrying a concealed weapon
- Unauthorized possession of weapon
- Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
- Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
- Tampering with serial number on a firearm
- Possession of firearm while prohibited
- Fail to comply with court order
- Fail to comply with court order
- Possession of a schedule II substance
Both the driver and passenger of the motor vehicle appeared in bail court on Monday October 6, 2014 where they remain in custody.
