JOSEPH “UNCLE LAWRENCE” MANDAMIN


Joseph “Uncle Lawrence” Mandamin passed away peacefully on Monday, September 30, 2014 in his 80th year. Lawrence will be sadly missed by his nieces Angeline Wemigwans and family, Melanie Simon (Kirk), Ruby Mandamin (Rolland Pangowish), Pey-Ji Mandamin, nephews Richard Trudeau, Rudy Mandamin (Mary Jo Peltier), great-nieces Cassandra Mandamin (Kori Young), Amanda Recollet, great-nephews Sean Gilbert, Derrian Mandamin, Wiin-Gash Mandamin, Raoul Mandamin, as well as many other relatives and friends and colleagues. Lawrence was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Esther (Waindubence), brother Douglas and sister Joyce. Lawrence was a cancer survivor for the last 10 years, was a member of the American Indian Movement as well as a residential school survivor and was very proud of his Mandamin name. He loved and enjoyed photography as well as his nieces and nephews. Friends called at St. Ignatius Church on Thursday, October 2, 2014 and Friday, October 3, 2014 from 1 pm. A Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 11 am with Fr. Henk Van-Mejiel officiating. Cremation to follow. Online condolences may be left at www.culginfuneralhome.ca.
